Counseling Internship

About Us

Transformations Counseling PLLC is offering a part-time internship for someone working toward becoming a therapist at our Rockford or Lake in the Hills location. You’ll work directly with clients through face-to-face and online sessions as part of our mission to help individuals, children, couples, and families overcome overwhelming emotions and behaviors

Required Experience & Skills

• Currently enrolled in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) practicum/internship program
• Performs diagnostic assessments of clients
• Willing to work a minimum of 2 evenings a week and 2 Saturdays a month (12–20 hours/week), with the ability to grow to full-time
• Performs individual, group, and family therapy, meeting treatment plan requirements
• Prepares and maintains accurate case notes, staffing, and therapy reports
• Secures client information per HIPAA standards
• Academic training in diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based interventions
• Comfort using secure online platforms for video-based clients
• Experience with adolescents and/or young adults preferred
• Academic training in CBT, DBT, or EMDR Therapy

Education & Licenses

• Current Master's student in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) degree program
• Ability to be licensed in Illinois as an LPC after graduation
• Valid driver's license
